Our Founder

Andrew Compton, MBA

CEO & CA Licensed Tax Preparer

 

BooksGenius was founded by Andrew Compton, after several years of tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and business management experience. Andrew is California Licensed Tax Preparer, and holds an MBA in Business Management. He has assisted many individuals, company owners, and corporate offices with accounting, business management, HR, and consulting projects.

He is a native Los Angeleno with a wide variety of hobbies such as hiking and martial arts where he received a black belt in the Shotokan discipline. When he’s not working you can find him spending time with his wife, daughter, and dog Reggie. Taxes can be a bit daunting and Andrew really relaxes the process as an attentive listener with a helpful and solutions-oriented demeanor.

Andrew serves as a financial coach for individuals and small businesses within the community.

Haleigh Scott

Office Manager

Haleigh brings several years of Office Administrative experience to our team. She is excited to work with BooksGenius and gain even more skills to help the company continue to grow. She is a huge people person and is always very eager to help.

In her spare time, Haleigh enjoys hanging out with family and friends. She is passionate about cooking.

Angie Nishihama

Senior Bookkeeper

Angie is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach and brings with her several years of experience in bank management, financial services, and most recently bookkeeping at a small CPA firm. She is excited about the opportunity to broaden her skills working at BooksGenius.

In her spare time, she coaches individuals in nutrition, fitness, and health. She enjoys the beautiful days living on the Central Coast with her daughter, son, and husband.

Marina Franjic

Staff Bookkeeper

Marina holds a Bachelor’s of Art Degree in Business. She has several years’ experience in bookkeeping and accounting, and is eager to continue learning and growing with BooksGenius. Her client’s satisfaction is her constant priority, she is a true team player. Her spare time is spent with her young son and husband.

Carrie Yaple

Staff Bookkeeper

Carrie comes to BooksGenius with a broad spectrum of experience. She excelled in the service and produce distribution industries; acquiring skills in sales, accounting, and management.

Together she and her husband are successful real-estate investors and retired small business owners. Having two small children leaves her little free time, but what she does have is used working with her husband on their small remote cabin in Big Sur.

Valerie Gonzalez

Senior Bookkeeper

Valerie brings many years of bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax experience, spanning from small non-profits to large corporations. Online marketing, search engine optimization, and web design are some of her other interests.

In her off time, Valerie enjoys spending time at the beach with her three boys and husband.

Liana Gonzalez

Staff Bookkeeper

Liana joins the team with over 10 years of bookkeeping experience on her belt. She has vast experience in the construction field; from redevelopment to remodels. Liana has also handled mass distribution bookkeeping for several years in the medical field.

Outside of the office she is a passionate Dodger fan being that she is born and raised at the foothills of the Stadium but sports in itself is her absolute favorite pastime.

William Flores

CA Licensed Tax Preparer

Born and raised in southern Los Angeles, William brings an extensive background in personal and corporate taxes. Will has several years of experience working for H&R Block and volunteering for AARP. This has prepared him to continue his exciting journey withBooksGenius and expand his knowledge.

Will’s patience and willingness to go the extra mile for his clients provides an overall great experience to the intimidating tax process.

William also likes to watch all kinds of Los Angeles sports teams, such as the Lakers, Kings, and Dodgers. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, along with his fluffy dog named Bjorn.

Tina Rau

Staff Bookkeeper

Tina has been in the accounting and bookkeeping field since 1998, working for several large companies in Accounts Payable and general accounting positions. She joins the team with QuickBooks experience gained from previously working for a CPA firm, where she managed bookkeeping accounts for multiple clients. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge and experience at BooksGenius. Tina loves learning new things and enjoys the detective work involved in problem solving.

Outside of work, she spends her time exploring around the lake she lives next to with her husband on their horses or boat. She has been a music fanatic from a very young age and loves going to live shows and finding new music.
